Structural Characterization Analysis and Functional Prediction of the Maize Flowering Factor ZmGI and Relevant Cognate Proteins
Photoperiod is one of the most important factors regulating plant flowering, which has an important influence on plant growth and development. In order to clarified the function of ZmGI and relevant expression model in maize,in this study,12 GI proteins were selected to be targets, and relevant physical and chemical properties, conservative mods, protein secondary structure, gene structure, upstream promoter cis-regulatory elements and so on of proteins encoded by GI gene were identifed by using bioinformatics analysis method. The results showed that the similar structure characterization were found among genes apionted into the same subpopulation. For the 12 homologous proteins:(1)There are 10 different conserved motifs;(2)It does not have the characteristics of trans-membrane domain.Subcellular localization results showed that GI protein might be located in nucleus and chloro-plast.Interaction protein analysis showed that the genes with CCT domain might be co-expressed with ZmGI.Tissue expression pattern analysis showed that ZmGI was significantly expressed in mature leaves.Promoter analysis showed that there were a large number of stress-responsive and light-responsive elements in the upstream promoter region of GI.These results would provide much more theoretical supports for resolving function of ZmGI gene deeply.
