Effect of Alantolactone Combined with Exercise on Cognitive Function Im-provement
This study investigated the effects of the active component from the Tumuxiang(Inula helenium)root, known as alantolactone(ALA),in combination with exercise on cognitive impairments induced by a high-fat diet(HFD)in rats.In the research,a rat model of cognitive impairment was established using HFD.Subsequently, the rats were divided into seven groups for different interventions.Specifically, the E group and E+H-ALA group un-derwent exercise training, while the L-ALA group,M-ALA group, and H-ALA group received gastric administra-tion of alantolactone at different dosages. The E+H-ALA group exercised post-administration.After a 6-week in-tervention,results revealed that the E+H-ALA group exhibited superior performance in the Morris water maze test compared to the E group and H-ALA group.Additionally, significant improvements were observed in the hip-pocampal neuronal morphology, oxidative stress markers, and inflammation-related indicators in this group. This study offers scientific evidence for the therapeutic efficacy of alantolactone combined with exercise on HFD-in-duced cognitive impairments, suggesting that its mechanism of action might be related to antioxidant properties,anti-inflammatory effects, and regulation of lipid metabolism gene transcriptional disorder.
