Research Progress on Aquatic Plant Whole Genome Sequencing and Its Uti-lization
Aquatic plant genomics plays an important role on understanding the features and functions of aquatic plants and promoting the breeding of aquatic plants.Besides,aquatic plant genomics is driven by whole genome se-quencing techonology.Whole genome sequences are important units of phylogenetic analysis,apply molecular markers and map information for aquatic plant QTL mapping,facilitate aquatic plant whole genome resequencing and functional genomic research.Research progress on aquatic plant whole genome sequencing and its utilization on aquatic plant genomics are summarized and concluded,and the future research on aquatic plant genomics is prospected.9 species of aquatic plants have been whole genome sequenced,in which lotus and common duckweed genome sequences are of high quality due to the continuous updating.Lotus genome has been widely used so far.To accelerate the progress of aquatic plant genomics and promote the intercross and fusion with multi-disciplines,more species with wide applications should be sequenced and integrated aquatic plant database should be constructed.
