Effects of Plant Growth Regulators on the Fruit Quality of Hainan-grown Pomelo
In order to select a plant growth regulating substance that can effectively reduce the lignin content of the juice sac of'Sanhong pomelo'[Citrus maxima(Burm.)Merr],this experiment was conducted using'Sanhong pomelo'fruit trees grown in Hainan. The newly developed fruitlets were sprayed with 20 mg/L uniconazole,6 mg/L sodium dinitrophenol and 90 mg/L IAA,then thedynamic morphological changes, water content and lignin content of juice sac were monitored, lignin content of juice sac and fruit quality at mature stage and in storage were also measured. It was found that all growth regulator have limited impact on the growth and development of fruit devel-opment.20 mg/L uniconazole treatment at fruit set stage significantly reduced the lignin content of fruit juice sac at 135 d and 165 d after flowering,it also decreased the lignin content at mature stage and after 15 days of storage;similarly,90 mg/L IAA treatment significantly reduced the lignin content of fruit juice sac at 165 d after flowering and at mature stage. After storage, uniconazole treatment significantly increased the soluble solids and organic acid content of the fruit, while IAA treatment significantly increased the ascorbic acid content of the fruit. The results of this study show that uniconazole can effectively reduce the lignification of pomelo fruit without affecting fruit de-velopment and quality, and has potential practical application.
