Genetic Evaluation of Wood and Growth Traits of Loblolly Pine Based on Near-infrared Prediction Model
Taking 27 free-pollinating families from the first-generation seed orchard of American loblolly pine(Pinus tae da)as the research object, using the established near-infrared prediction model to determine the wood density and fiber length, combining with the DBH data obtained from the growth survey, using R and ASReml software for genetic evaluation of loblolly pine wood traits and growth traits. The results showed that the family heritability and individual plant heritability of loblolly pine wood density were 0.44±0.21 and 0.42±0.17,respec-tively.The family heritability and individual plant heritability of fiber length were 0.34±0.18 and 0.29±0.02,re-spectively.Heritability and heritability per plant were 0.46±0.16 and 047±0.52,respectively;the phenotype and ge-netic correlation coefficients of wood density and fiber length were 0.99 and 0.91,respectively.Wood density and fiber length were extremely positive in phenotype and genetics.Correlation, enabling simultaneous genetic im-provement of two traits. After multiple comparative analyses and the combination of breeding values, seven lines(294,245,246,290,291,232,237)selected for all three traits in Group A,together with lines(286,236,290,294)with clear advantages in each of the groups, were found to be suitable as candidates for the breeding population of high density, long fiber and large DBH.
