Correlation Analysis of Leaf Defoliation and Agronomic Traits of Different Upland Cotton Varieties
By studying the correlation between the defoliation rate and agronomic traits of 30 upland cotton vari-eties,the relationship between defoliation and agronomic traits was clarified, and the difference between the defo-liation rate and the hanging branch rate was analyzed, and the varieties with excellent defoliation and agronomic traits were screened out.The results of the study found that there is a positive correlation between the defoliation rate and the plant height, the height of the first node, and the number of the first node, the total number of leaves has a significant positive correlation with the defoliation rate, the number of fruit nodes has a negative correlation with the defoliation rate, and the number of effective branches is correlated with defoliation. There is a significant negative correlation between the rate of hanging branches, the SPAD value of chlorophyll, and the rate of defolia-tion.The results shows that in addition to the traits of the rate of defoliation and the rate of hanging branches, the total number of leaves, the number of effective branches, and the SPAD value of the chlorophyll can be used as the key reference traits for evaluating the traits of defoliation ability of varieties. The defoliation rate of the tested up-land cotton varieties was quite different, and finally three varieties with better comprehensive defoliation charac-teristics were screened,including'Xinluzhongl4','Xinluzhongl5','Xinluzhong40'.This study provides a reference for the creation of cotton defoliation germplasm resources suitable for mechanical harvesting and the establishment of defoliation trait indicators.
