Identification of Sorghum RKD Gene Family and Its Expression Patterns Analysis under Nitrogen Stress
RKD(RWP-RK domain protein)is a specific nitrogen responsive protein in plants, which plays impor-tant roles in plant growth, especially in reproductive processes.Sorghum bicolor is a grain crop with resistant to drought and barren.Exploring genes related to nutrient uptake and utilization is vital for analyzing molecular mechanism of sorghum nutrient response and for cultivating nutrient efficient crops. In this study,7 sorghum RKD genes distributed on 5 chromosomes using bioinformatics methods.Analysis of protein properties and conserved domains of SbRKD revealed that the number of amino acid residues had a significant impact on their properties.Evolutionary analysis of RKD genes in sorghum, rice, and Arabidopsis revealed that they mainly aggregated into three clades and SbRKDs were all under purifying selection.Meanwhile, some SbRKD genes occurred deletion and replication during differentiation. Most RKD genes had low expression levels in sorghum due to tissue expres-sion results, except for SbRKD1 and SbRKD4,which had high expression levels in embryos and seeds,respective-ly.The results of nitrogen starvation and high concentration nitrogen induction indicated that SbRKD1 and SbRKD4 could respond to external supplement of nitrogen. The study provided a theoretical basis for future ex-ploring the impact of RKD genes on sorghum growth and development.
