Transcriptome Sequencing and Analysis of Flavonoids Synthesis Related Genes in Onion
Onion(Allium cepa L.)is an important vegetable crop grown worldwide and its bulb color is an important trait for onion selection and consumption. In this study,high-throughput transcriptome sequencing was performed on red onions and yellow onions,to explore related genes of flavonoids synthesis and their molecular basis of different colors. The results showed that a total of 5 809 differentially expressed genes were obtained, including 2 991 up-regulated genes and 2 818 down-regulated genes. The GO function enrichment analysis of differential gene showed that differential genes were mainly involved in three categories:cellular component, biological process and molecular function.KEGG significant enrichment analysis showed that differentially ex-pressed genes were mainly enriched in three metabolic pathways. The main enrichment pathways were related to flavonoids synthesis including flavonoid biosynthesis, anthocyanin biosynthesis, isoflavonoid biosynthesis, flavone and flavonol biosynthesis, and the structural genes related to flavonoid synthesis such as F3'H,FLS,CHI,DFR were screened. This study provides a basis for further exploring the functions of key enzymes of the metabolic synthesis pathways related to onion color and their regulatory mechanisms.
