With the acceleration of urbanization,the design and transformation of public spaces have become a key aspect of enhancing urban quality of life.Functional plants are playing an increasingly important role in public spaces.They not only provide ecological and aesthetic enjoyment to urban residents,but also play an irreplaceable role in improving air quality,regulating microclimate,and enhancing spatial vitality.This review summarizes the design strategies and practical applications of functional plants in public spaces,explores issues related to the selection,configuration,and management of functional plants,and provides corresponding suggestions and prospects.Through these studies and discussions,the aim is to provide theoretical and practical guidance for future urban greening and public space renovation.
