Application of Conventional Breeding Techniques in the Cultivation of Landscape Design Plants
Landscape design plants refer to those intentionally selected and arranged for use in gardens and land-scape spaces.Landscape design traits refer to the visual, tactile, and other sensory characteristics of plants, which are considered to have specifiic aesthetic and functional values in landscape design. As a traditional method of plant genetic improvement, conventional breeding techniques occupy an irreplaceable position in the cultivation of land-scape design plants. This study comprehensively analyzes the application cases of conventional breeding tech-niques in the cultivation of landscape design plants, including the improvement of ornamental traits, enhancement of environmental adaptability, and adjustment of growth habits, and discusses the challenges faced by breeding techniques.By comparing conventional and modern breeding techniques, this study reveals the differences in cost, time, and applicability between the two, emphasizes the complementary role of modern technologies, and predicts the development trend of integrated breeding techniques. Finally, the study emphasizes the importance of sustainable breeding and proposes future breeding directions, aiming to provide scientific basis and strategic suggestions for the cultivation of landscape design plants to meet the needs of future urban greening and ecological construction.
