The Balance between the Seed Variety Protection System and the Rights and Interests of Farmers
Seed variety protection is an important component of ensuring agricultural innovation and food security,but its implementation often involves potential threats to the rights and interests of farmers.How to protect the interests of farmers while ensuring seed variety innovation has become an important challenge in formulating relevant policies and regulations.This study reviews the existing research results on the balance between seed variety protection system and farmers'rights,explores the inherent relationship between the two and the challenges they face.Research has pointed out that the seed variety protection system aims to maintain the sustainable de-velopment of agriculture and the diversity of seeds,but the implementation process needs to fully consider the rights and interests of farmers.Farmers,as direct participants in the seed variety protection system,are closely related to their production activities,economic interests,and knowledge inheritance.This study proposes some suggestions to balance the relationship between the two and points out future research directions,aiming to provide a comprehensive perspective for agricultural policy makers,scholars,and practitioners to understand the relation-ship between seed variety protection systems and farmer rights,in order to provide useful references for sustainable agricultural development.
