Molecular Marker-assisted Selection of Maize Variety'Weiyu618'with Resistance to Southern Corn Rust
In order to cultivate a new maize variety with high yield, stable yield, and excellent comprehensive re-sistance,this study used materials carrying the main resistance gene of southern corn rust as parents, and combined haploid breeding with molecular marker-assisted selection technology to cultivate a new maize variety'Weiyu-618'.Based on the summary data of the regional trials(2016 and 2017)and production trials(2017)of Huang-huai-hai summer maize region, the high yield, stability, and adaptability of'Weiyu618'was analyzed by Shukla sta-bility analysis method, high stability coefficient(HSC)method and fitness. The results showed that the average yield of'Weiyu618'in the two-year regional trial was 10 599.98 kg/hm2,which increased by 9.60%compared to the control'Zhengdan 958',ranking first in the same group and demonstrating good fertility. The Shukla coefficient of variation were 5.50%and 7.85%in the two-year regional trial, respectively, which were at a lower level in the same group. The HSC reached 89.64%and 85.85%respectively,ranking first among the tested varieties in the same group. The fitness was 47.06%%and 58.33%respectively,both better than the control'Zhengdan 958'.These results indicate that'Weiyu618'has outstanding adaptability to high and stable yield.Correlation analysis shows that there is a highly significant and significant correlation between yield and grain weight per ear and 100-kernel weight in'Weiyu618'.Therefore,it is necessary to increase the grain weight per ear in production to maximize its yield potential.
