Comparison of Leaf Anatomy and Plant Heat Tolerance in Six Clematis Cul-tivars
In order to clarify the relationship between the leaf structure of different Clematis varieties and their heat resistance, this study used scanning electron microscopy to observe the leaf structure of six marketable Clema-tis varieties, and carried out cluster analysis and correlation analysis on 15 indexes such as leaf thickness,epider-mal cells, and thickness of palisade tissues, screened out the most representative indexes for heat resistance identi-fication,and analyzed the comprehensive evaluation for heat resistance of six Clematis varieties by using the aver-age affiliation function. The results showed that the anatomical structure of the leaves of six Clematis varieties showed that the thickness of upper epidermis was generally greater than that of the lower epidermis, the cells of the palisade tissues were closely arranged, with small cell gaps, and the spongy tissues were loosely arranged, with large and numerous cell gaps, and most of the spongy tissues were greater than the thickness of the palisade tissues. The affiliation function analysis of five representative indexes, such as the thickness of palisade tissue, obtained that the heat resistance of six Clematis varieties was ranked as BiJou'Evipo030'>'Julie'>'Blue light'>'Purple bell'>'Purple melody'>'Avant'.This evaluation method provides a reference value for a more scientific and effective e-valuation of the heat resistance of Clematis, and lays a foundation for screening heat-resistant germplasm and car-rying out breeding research.
