Screening of Peppers Germplasm for Resistance to Meloidogyne incognita in Hainan Province
Given the specialized nature of root-knot nematodes and the difficulty and recurrence of controlling plant diseases they cause, breeding and planting resistant varieties remains one of the most economical and effective strategies for disease control. In order to accelerate the breeding process of new varieties of pepper resistant to southern root-knot nematode and effectively cope with the large-scale occurrence of southern root-knot nematode in the production of Hainan pepper in recent years, through PM6a and PM54 2 molecular marker screening, combined with the method of seedling inoculation resistance identification,53 existing pepper germplasm resources with good commercial properties in our unit were screened for Meloidogyne incognita, and identified 4 through molecular marker screening. In the inoculation identification test, the resistance reached resistance(R),including 1 part of cuban pepper,2 parts of cayenne pepper and 1 part of wire pepper, and the commerciality of each pepper resource was good, which deepened understanding of the distribution of resistant pepper resources in our unit, and provided a practical basis for the selection and breeding of new varieties of pepper that are further resistant to Meloidogyne incognita.
