Analysis of the Characteristics and Spatial Distribution Pattern of the First-class Old Trees Resources in Hainan Province
In order to clarify the characteristics and spatial distribution pattern of primary ancient tree resources in Hainan Province. The present situation of ancient tree resources in the whole province was systematically investi-gated by means of literature collection and field survey, the plant composition, flora type, structural characteristics and distribution pattern were analyzed, and the main influencing factors were discussed. The results show that:There are 1 075 old trees belonging to 74 species in 55 genera of 33 families in Hainan Province, and these old trees are abundant in quantity and species. In which, the dominant families including Moraceae,Sapindaceae and Fagaceae, and mainly native tree species including Ficus altissima,Syzygium tetragonum,Lithocarpus amygdali-folius and Litchi chinensis. The distribution characteristics of the old tree resources possess the strong tropical at-tributes.From structure of old tree resources, height is concentrated on 15~25 m with average height of 20.41 m,diameter at breast height(DBH)is concentrated on 90~150 cm with average DBH of 130.01cm.The correlation results showed that the tree height and breast diameter of the first-class ancient tree in Hainan Province were sig-nificantly positively correlated(P<0.05).The first-class old trees in Hainan Province are widely distributed, but there are significant differences in numbers of species and individuals among different distribution regions and they are mainly distributed in the central and western regions of Hainan Province. The results of DCA analysis showed that the number of first-class ancient trees in Hainan Province was clustered, and most of old trees were distributed in Ledong Li Autonomous County,Changjiang Li Autonomous County,Qiongzhong Li and Miao Au-tonomous County,Danzhou City and other western and central cities and counties. From growth status, the overall growth condition of the first-class old trees were good, and 85.02%of the individuals were in a healthy state,re-spectively.The study would provide science-based references for the construction of forest city and the establish-ment of urban forest ecosystem.
