Genome-wide Identification and Expression Analysis of the Lipoxygenase Gene Family in Oil Palm
In order to clarify the types, characteristics, and regulatory roles of oil palm LOX genes in the growth and development of oil palm, this study used Arabidopsis LOX protein sequences as labels and BLAST homolo-gous LOX protein sequences in the oil palm genome database. The LOX protein sequences were analyzed using CDD and PFAM databases.Bioinformatics was used to visualize chromosomal localization, evolutionary tree, gene structure, and conserved domains of oil palm LOX family members. The results showed that 75 LOX genes of oil palm were obtained,of which 61 genes were unevenly distributed on 15 chromosomes of oil palm, and 10 genes were most distributed on chromosome 12.The length of the gene ranged from 1 550 bp to 99 179 bp,and the num-ber of exon ranged from 1 to 24.The LOX gene family of oil palm contains 10 motif conserved motifs.By predict-ing the secondary structures of the proteins,it was found that all EgLOX proteins have four types of structures:α-helix,β-turn,random coil, and extended strand,of which 57 proteins have random coil as the main structure,18 proteins have α-helix as the main structure, and the proportion of β-turn and extended strand is small.Through expression pattern analysis,it was found that the EgLOX gene is expressed to varying degrees in the skin, kernels, roots, leaves, stems, and flowers of oil palm, with tissue and spatiotemporal expression specificity.Antifreeze protein and tissue expression specificity are two major characteristics of the oil palm EgLOX gene family, which may play a regulatory role in the process of oil palm lipid degradation. This study provides a certain reference for the function-al research of oil palm LOX.
