Protective Effects of Cinnamon Extract and Resistance Exercise on Myocardial Mitochondrial Function in Obese Rats
This study investigates the effects of cinnamon extract combined with resistance exercise on myocar-dial mitochondrial function and inflammatory response in obese rats.A high-fat diet-induced obesity model was established in rats, followed by interventions with resistance exercise and cinnamon extract. The study assessed myocardial damage, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory responses. The results showed that compared to the con-trol group, obese rats exhibited significantly elevated levels of serum total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-c),along with decreased levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-c).The combination of cinnamon extract and resistance exercise significantly improved these lipid profiles, reduced hepatic lipid accumulation, and corrected lipid metabolism abnormalities in obese rats.Additionally, this combined intervention significantly enhanced cardiac function, reduced myocardial apoptosis, lowered oxidative stress levels in the myocardium, and increased antioxidant enzyme activity. The treatment also notably reduced levels of inflammatory markers(TNF-α,IL-1 β,IL-6,and CRP)in the myocardium, inhibited phosphorylation of p38 MAPK,and promoted the expression of mitochondrial function-related genes NRF1 and TFAM.In summary, cinnamon extract combined with resistance exercise improved lipid metabolism, reduced oxidative stress and in-flammation,and significantly protected myocardial mitochondrial function in obese rats, indicating its potential application value.
