On 2 April 2022,Australia and India signed the Economic Co-operation and Trade Agreement(ECTA),accelerating the liberalisation of bi-lateral trade in goods and services.Under the ECTA,Australia's and India's mar-kets become significantly more open, import and export tariffs on most goods have been cut to zero, and customs clearance procedures for people have been improved. The conclusion of the ECTA is of great significance to the recovery of the Australia-India economy after the COVID-19 pandemic, the development of the Australia-India comprehensive strategic partnership, the engagement a-mong the QUAD partners, and the management of the Australia-India-Japan supply chain resilience. In addition, the signing of the ECTA between Australia and India reflects the desire of the two countries to enhance strategic collabora-tion and international influence, indicating that neither side wants the"Indo-Pacific"region to be defined only by China-US competition, and that inde-pendent cooperation between middle powers can also have a voice in internation-al affairs.
