Since the promulgation of the 3GPP 5G broadcasting and television standard,it has attracted worldwide attention,and many countries have conducted experiments and explorations based on 5G broadcasting and television technology.Since 2023,there have been continuous new trends in the international 5G broadcasting and television field.Firstly,3GPP defined new bands including Band 108 and new duplex-mode SDO for 5G broadcasting and television in September.Secondly,ETSI added chapters on Public Warning System in its new version of 5G broadcasting and television specification in June.Last but not least,the FCC approved the application of 5G broadcasting and television trial in the Boston area in July 2023 and received an extended application in January 2024.This paper introduces the background and overview of those trends with their internal relations,and analyses the enlightenment for China's broadcasting and television industry.
