How to reasonably determine the regularization factor is a research focus in the field of geophysical regularization inversion. The staged adaptive algorithm can fully exert the role of a stabilizer and improve the stability of inversion results. But the algorithm is im-plemented only in the one-dimensional and two-dimensional MT inversions.Based on the rapid development of three-dimensional MT inversion, this paper introduces the staged adap-tive regularization algorithm into the three-dimensional MT regularization inversion,adap-tively adjusts the value of a regularization factor according to the"stage"rather than the"in-teration",and achieves a balance between the stabilizing function and the misfit function. This paper designs single-block and double-block model tests, and deliberately sets a larger number of iterations to observe the change of the inversion results.Model tests show that the staged adaptive algorithm is suitable for three-dimensional MT regularization inversion. This algorithm can better maintain the stability of the solution in the later stage of the inver-sion.Therefore,the selection of regularization factors from the perspective of solution sta-bility is a direction worth exploring.
