"Common prosperity"is the fundamental goal of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics. Its core con-cepts include economic growth and income distribution. The interactive relationship between the two has always been the focus of academic debate. This article uses a panel vector autoregressive model and empirically analyzes the dynamic interactive rela-tionship between economic growth and income distribution gap based on quarterly panel data from 31 provinces in my country from 2002 to 2019.The conclusion shows that:the correlation between economic growth and income distribution has regional and urban-rural heterogeneity;economic growth has a positive impact on the income distribution gap in eastern urban areas, and vice versa in central and western urban areas;the income distribution gap has a positive impact on economic growth. The eastern rural areas show a significant positive impact, while the central urban and western areas show an"inverted S-shaped"positive re-lationship.
