Limitations of the Periodic Reduction Coefficient Method in Structural Design
In order to study the influence of periodic reduction coefficient on structural seismic displacement,four calculation models were established and the calculation results were compared.Structural calculation ignoring filling wall stiffness leads to both underestimation of seismic internal force and overestimation of seismic displacement.When calculating the seismic effect by the periodic reduction coefficient method,the seismic force does not improve the stiffness of the structure calculation,so the underestimated internal force can be adjusted by the periodic reduction coefficient method,while the overestimated displacement can not be adjusted correctly by this method,but will be amplified again.For overestimated displacement,safety even if no adjustment is biased.For the structure of the filling wall between Tgand5Tg,Tg is the characteristic period,the period reduction coefficient is 0.7 for seismic analysis,and the seismic displacement calculation result will reach 2.04 times of the actual value.
