Air Pollutant and CO2 Emissions of Fuel Forklift Trucks in China and Suggestions for Electrification Development
Fuel forklift trucks generate a large amount of air pollutants, affecting environmental quality, and electrification is an important prevention and control measure.Through the emission factor method, the emissions of air pollutants and CO2 from fuel forklift trucks in China in 2022 are counted, the emission characteristics of forklift trucks at different emission stages and power ranges are analyzed, and the emis-sion reduction benefits of indirect emissions from power generation are quantified. The data envelopment analysis and ratio definition method are adopted to evaluate the potential indexes of electrification. The results show that, old fuel forklift trucks(National Emission Standard)have high emission intensity and are the main sources of NOx and PM,with emission shares of 45%and 47%,respectively.The number of fuel forklift trucks with a small and medium power is high, and the emission share is as high as 80%to 82%.The emissions of PM,NOx,CO and HC from a single G4 fuel forklift truck of National Emission Standard are 7.6,8.2,4.5 and 4.1 times higher than those from a G1 forklift truck of National Emission Standard, respectively.Electric forklift trucks have a high development potential, with an average value of evaluation indexes ranging from 70 to 90 at each power range, especially in the fixed scenes such as logistics parks and factories where they have good substitutability. However, electric forklift trucks with a high power are rarely available, have high costs, and still face the problems of insufficient power output and difficult charging in outdoor and unfixed scenes. It is suggested that, referring to the automotive industry, point management should be implemented for new-energy forklift trucks to promote enterprises to develop new technologies and products, and zero-carbon construction should be combined to focus on promoting electric substitutions of fuel forklift trucks at construction sites.
