Experimental and Mechanistic Investigation of HFC-134a Thermal Catalytic Degradation
With the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol coming into effect in Septem-ber 2021,China faces a challenging task of phasing out HFCs in next few decades. The efficient and low-energy degradation of HFCs is therefore of utmost importance. This study focuses on the thermal catalytic degradation of refrigerants and investigates the feasibility of using this method to degrade HFC-134a,a major HFC refrigerant, through experimental and quantum chemical calcula-tion methods. The study also analyzes the impact of key factors such as catalyst type, temperature, and oxygen fraction on refrigerant degradation efficiency.
