Vortices Evolution Control in the Tip Region Based on Cutback Squealer Tips
The evolution of various vortices in the tip region of the rotor blade has a great influence on the aerodynamic performance of the turbine. In this paper, the numerical simulation method is used to study the control of the vortices in the tip region based on cutback squealer tips. The results show that near the leading edge of suction side cutback tip causes the leakage flow to mix with the upper passage vortex, which can delay the formation of the leakage vortex and inhibit the development of the upper passage vortex in the downstream, and the turbine stage efficiency is slightly improved.Near the trailing edge of suction side cutback tip causes the fluid in the cavity to be involved in the leakage vortex, which can supplement the momentum of the leakage vortex to reduce the loss of vortex breakdown, and the turbine stage efficiency is significantly improved.
