Large Eddy Simulation of Particle-laden Turbulent Flow in Sedimentary Pipe
Large Eddy simulation and Lagrange particle tracking methods are used to simulate the turbulent flow and particle distribution in the pipe with a horizontal bed.The bulk Reynolds number is 40000 and the particle diameter is 5 μm,50 μm(St=0.6,63).It is found that the corner of the pipe induces four streamwise vortices, and the fluid flows from the center to the corner. The extension degree of their corresponding vorticity patterns is similar to that of rectangular secondary flows. The average lift force on the particles near the wall of the pipe is toward the wall, and the average lift force on the particles near the bed of the pipe is greater. The average drag force on particles near the walls of the pipe points toward the center.
