The simulation model based on Rapid Compression Expansion Machine was constructed by CONVERGE software and validated. The basic characteristics of pilot diesel spray/high-pressure natural gas jet combustion were studied, and the influences of pilot diesel mass and natural gas nozzle diameter on the dual fuel combustion process were investigated. The results show that the combustion flame develops along both sides of the jet,and the reduction of gas momentum has great effect on the equivalent ratio distribution at the front end of the jet.The pilot diesel mass affects the duration of the pilot diesel flame in the cylinder, thus affecting the ignition timing of the gas and the amount of the burned natural gas.The diameter of the natural gas nozzle affects the amount and momentum of the jet,and under vortex conditions, the distribution of the combustion flame area affects the ignition and stable combustion of the gas.
