High-Fidelity Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Combustion Under Engine Conditions
This paper reviews high-fidelity numerical simulations of turbulent combustion under internal combustion engine conditions.Different modeling approaches are discussed including direct numerical simulation(DNS),large eddy simulation(LES),flamelet models, and probability density function(PDF)transport models.Applications of these methods to turbulent combustion in engines are summarized. This review provides comprehensive insights into the current status and outlook of studies on turbulent flame interactions, spray combustion flame structures,low-temperature cool flames, autoignition and flame propagation modes, and pollutant formation mechanisms in advanced combustion modes of internal combustion engines.
