Structure and mould design of hemp fiber parts based on integrated molding and injection molding process
The application of hemp fiber composites is one of the important ways to achieve automotive lightweighting, green and sustainable development of the automotive industry.A solution based on integrated molding and injection molding was proposed to address the difficulties in forming complex automotive components using hemp fiber composite materials and the high cost of moulds.Firstly, the hemp fiber/polypropylene(PP)composite fiber board was heated and softened, and then placed into a molding and injection molding integrated mould for molding. The mould parting surface adopted an insertion structure instead of a collision structure design. The molding process cut the contour of the parts through the parting surface. For products that could not be molded, the back positioning installation structure and main parameterized features were molded using injection molding hemp fiber/PP.The mould adopted an inverted structure design, with a hot runner pouring system and ejection mechanism designed on the fixed mould side, and a cavity design that could be replaced inserts for parameterized features of punching and injection molding. The part design guide connected the independent installation structure and main parameterized features on the back of the product. After molding, the guide was filled with a fixed mould hot runner point gate to form the independent installation structure and main parameterized features on the back of the product. After the plastic structure cools and solidifies, the ejection mechanism driven by the oil cylinder on the fixed mould side pushes the part out of the mould cavity.A set of integrated injection molding mould was designed based on this molding process and applied in actual production. It has been proven through practice that the structure of the mould was stable and reliable, and the quality of the parts met the design requirements.
