Effect of drafting ratio on the properties of PE-UHMW film material
The development of high-performance fiber-reinforced resin-based composites promotes the development of bullet-proof equipment.Facing with the increasing threat of high-energy killing weapons and the increasing load of individual soldiers, the demand for high protection and light weight of protective equipment is increasingly urgent. The appearance of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(PE-UHMW)film material is helpful to realize the demand of light weight and high protection. As the smallest component of PE-UHMW film material, the influence of PE-UHMW tape on the performance of film material is related to the performance of bulletproof equipment.Membrane materials prepared from strips with different draft ratios were selected to study their physical and chemical properties, mechanical properties and bulletproof properties. The test and analysis show that the mechan-ical properties of the laminated composites are different due to the different physical and chemical properties of the film materials, such as molecular weight, crystallinity and orientation, and then the bulletproof properties show different characteristics under differ-ent impact conditions. The molecular weight of the membrane material prepared by high-magnification drafting strip reaches 5 658 000 g/mol,and the composite material prepared from it has more excellent mechanical properties, with the bending strength of 102.12 MPa,the bending modulus of 23.30 GPa and the shear strength of 8.60 MPa.The V50 value of the 8 kg/m2 area density target plate against 1.1 g standard simulated fragments reaches 804.50 m/s at room temperature, and the bullet impact point height of the 51-type 7.62 mm pistol bullet is 13.20 mm.Under the condition that the resin system is consistent with the processing technolo-gy,The mechanical properties and bulletproof properties of the PE-UHMW film material prepared by PE-UHMW tape with high draft ratio has obvious advantages, and has potential application in the field of individual protection.
