Research and application progress of high performance fiber reinforced ballistic composites
The research and application progress of high performance fiber reinforced ballistic composites were reviewed,with emphasis on the research and application status of high performance fibers such as glass fiber,aramid fiber,ultra high molecu-lar weight polyethylene fiber,poly(p-phenylene benzothiazole)fiber and hybrid fibers reinforced composites in the field of ballistic protection,as well as the research progress of new fiber suah as natural fiber reinforced ballistic composites.It was pointed out that fiber reinforced composites has the outstanding advantages of low density,high efficiency energy absorption and excellent ballistic performance.They have been widely concerned and researched in the field of lightweight and high protection,and have been widely used in tanks,armored vehicles,armed helicopters and individual protection,which can meet the military needs of high mobility and high survivability in future wars.
