Application properties of epoxy hyperbranched polyester chain extender based on waste PET
An epoxy hyperbranched polyester chain extender(EHBP)was prepared using the degradation products of waste polyethylene terephthalate(PET)as the core, and the effects of this chain extender on the microstructure, thermal properties, and mechanical properties of poly(butylene adipate terephthalate)/polylactic acid/calcium carbonate(PBAT/PLA/CaCO₃)composites were investigated. The experimental results indicate that EHBP prepared from PET degradation products has a significant compatibi-lizing effect on the composites. The highly reactive epoxy groups in the chain extender can undergo ring-opening addition reactions with the terminal carboxyl and hydroxyl groups on PBAT and PLA,forming extended macromolecules to enhance the interfacial interaction between PBAT and PLA.When the addition of EHBP reaches 0.6 phr,it can be clearly observed that the phase boundar-ies become blurred, and the number of voids decreases. The notched impact strength enhances from 6.48 kJ/m² to 43.02 kJ/m²,the tensile strength increases from 10.15 MPa to 24.59 MPa,and the elongation at break increases from 11.8%to 56.72%.
