This study delves deeply into the application and benefits of Building Information Modeling(BIM)technology in engineering cost management,thoroughly analyzing BIM's core concepts,technological evolution,and its current status and limitations in cost management.Through the design and implementation of a series of surveys,data were extensively collected from multiple engineering projects,identifying key application issues of BIM at various project stages including decision-making,design,construction,completion,and final accounting.These issues primarily involve insufficient standardization of processes,barriers to information sharing,and unmet training needs of relevant personnel.Based on the survey results,this paper proposes a set of specific optimization measures,including enhancing professional training for BIM,improving information sharing mechanisms,and promoting standardized processes to address these challenges and further enhance the application benefits of BIM technology in engineering cost management.Additionally,the study forecasts the potential developments from the integration of BIM technology with modern information technologies such as the Internet of Things(IoT)and the internet,and discusses the potential impact of these technological integrations on future innovations in engineering cost management.Through these in-depth analyses,the research not only highlights the immense value of BIM technology but also provides practical strategies and directions for further enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of engineering cost management.
