Initiation of Strategic Nuclear Project in the Former Soviet Union during WWII
During the Second World War, the Soviet Union has made a. study of the plausibility of the initiation of Strategic Nuclear Project. In the early phase of the War, the Soviet leaders did not realize the importance of research of nuclear power, and after the Nazi invasion of its territory the country was going all out to defend itself. Some farsighted scientists have tried to convince the country's leaders of the importance of the research and development of nuclear weaponry, and the government agencies have also provided valuable information on the research going on in Great Britain and the United States. All these factors worked together and gradually helped the Soviet leaders make up their mind about its genuine importance as well as its implementation of the research and development of nuclear weapons. Later, under the threat of US nuclear hegemony, the Soviet leaders have made the decision to develop their Strategic Nuclear Project.
