In April 1961,Xi Zhongxun paid an investigatory visit to a village in Changge,Henan Province. The central task of the investigation was the discussion and revision of the Sixty Articles on Agriculture.Regarding historical facts about this visit, there are still some uncertainties and misinformation prevailing in academic community. This article aims to present corresponding revisions and clarifications to some established facts.First,it is clarified that Xi Zhongxun arrived in Changge on April 10 and left on May 12 at the earliest and May 16 at the latest.Second,"comprehensive contracting"pattern advocated by Xi Zhongxun in Changge, which refers to a practice in which a production team contracted land from the production brigade based on output and labor voucher, differs from"household-based contracting"system that was implemented in other parts of the country. As such, there is no enough evidence to prove that he had actively explored household-based contracting.Third, the"primary stage of socialism"proposed by Xi Zhongxun in Changge is consistent with the basic guiding principle of"underdeveloped socialism"introduced by Mao Zedong but essentially different from the original intention of the"preliminary stage of socialism"proposed after the reform and opening up.
