A Cross-Media Representation:On Literary Images in the Novels of Alexander Green
Alexander Greene,an important writer of the Russian Silver Age,used the elements of painting to present the aesthetics of Romanticism,and painting became the medium for the presentation of the novel texts.Green,who has a good artistic background,often uses painting as a medium to realize the artistic pursuit of the novel's text,through the living of"literary images",the dynamic relationship between language and image in Green's novels is presented in the form of"speaking in pictures","language and picture imitation"and"language and picture intertext",which makes the characters of the novels more vividly portrayed,the characters of the novels more rounded,thus promotes the plot narrative of the novels,breaks the shackles between the textual space and the real space,and allows people to feel the fusion between artistic reproduction as well as art and reality through viewing.Green succeeded in implanting paintings in the novel text,realizing the integration of cross-media and cross-text,thus achieving the uniqueness of his creation.
