Research on Curriculum Construction in Elderly Education Through the Lens of Needs Classification Theory——A Case Study of the Baizi Drama Training Class at Shanwei University for the Elderly
Curriculum construction is a pivotal aspect of educational pedagogy and plays a crucial role in the high-quality development of education for the elderly.Drawing on McCluskey's demand classification theory and aligning with the objectives, tasks, and initiatives outlined in the Development Plan of Education for the Elderly(2016-2020)issued by the State Council, this study developed a questionnaire to assess the needs of students enrolled in the Baizi drama course at Shanwei University for the Elderly.Analyzing the survey data using SPSS 26.0 software revealed that elderly students possess diverse learning needs, express a willingness to contribute to the preservation of Baizi drama, and demonstrate varying educational requirements and outcomes. This paper proposes several optimization strategies, including the development of guidance documents, clarification of curriculum objectives, enrichment of course content, standardization of curriculum implementation, and enhancement of curriculum evaluation processes for elderly learners.
