On the Role of Open Universities in Supporting Rural Cultural Revitalization under the Rural Revitalization Strategy——A Case Study of Shantou Open University
Rural revitalization is a critical strategy for addressing the"three rural"issues:agriculture,rural areas,and farmers.Open universities have a unique advantage in offering systematic education,training,and resource integration.Since 2021,Shantou Open University has actively contributed to rural cultural revitalization through various initiatives,including sending cadres to villages via party-building activities,establishing practical bases,and organizing community cultural events.These efforts have included educational programs for members of village committees and have yielded notable successes.However,challenges remain,such as the need for improved systems and mechanisms,insufficient funding,a lack of qualified personnel,and the digital divide between urban and rural areas.To enhance the pathways for rural cultural revitalization,it is essential for open universities to strengthen relevant systems,secure adequate funding,bolster talent support,and leverage technology for the development of rural culture.
