Distribution Characteristics and Sources of Organic Matters in Surface Sediments in Intertidal Zone of Zhanjiang Bay
This study investigated the total organic carbon content, total nitrogen,TOC/TN ratio and stable carbon isotope in the intertidal zone surface sediments taking from Seaside Park,Yugang Park and Donghaidao Island intertidal zone in Zhanjiang bay.Distribution characteristics of TOC,TN,δ13Corg and source of organic matter in intertidal surface sediments in Zhanjiang bay were analyzed. The results showed that the TOC contents in the sediments were between 0.03%~1.28%,the average value is 0.51%,the TN contents were between 0.002%~0.121%,the average value is 0.05%.The value of TOC/TN ranged from 7.75 to 20.36,and the average value was 12.15.The range of δ13Corg value were from-26.25 ‰ to-22.13 ‰,and the average value was-24.24 ‰.The sediment organic matter of surface in the intertidal zone of Zhanjiang bay were mainly originated from marine and terrestrial mixed sources, most of which come from C3 terrestrial plants and marine algae.A small part of the organic matter may come from emergent plants and shellfish biological deposits, which may be affected by the environment of the study area such as geographical environment, sediment particle size, port transportation, domestic wastewater and marine fishery.
