Analyze on the Use of Preservatives in 79 Batches of Rinse-off Cosmetics
The types and frequency of preservatives were analyzed in 79 batches of rinse-off cosmetics which sampled from hotels,beauty salons,and bathing places Fujian Province,showed that 35 batches of samples used more than 3 types of composite preservatives(79.7%),among which isothiazolinone preservatives(48.1%)was most frequency used.The content of isothiazolinone preservatives(48.1%)in 79 batches of samples were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC),and the consistency between detected preservatives and their labels were compared.The results showed that 20 batches actually detected only single component MI,26 batches detected Kathon among the 79 batches of samples;In 2 batches of samples,the Kathon content had exceeded the limits specified in the"Technical Specifications for safety of Cosmetic"(2015 edition),and the unqualfied rate was 2.5%;The content of isothiazolinone preservatives has reached the limit in three batches of samples,which poses a high risk;About 1/5 of the samples actually containing Kathon had the problem of proportioning range exceeding the standard.21 batches of samples showeddiscrepancies between the test results and the labeling statement,and the inconistent rate reached 26.6%.The use of isothiazolinone preservatives in cosmetics is not optimistic and deserves further supervision.
