Recent Advances in Drugs for anti-Coxsackievirus Type B
Coxsackieviruses B(CVB)are small,non-enveloped,single-stranded RNA viruses belonging to the Enterovirus genus of the Picornaviridae family, which is mainly transmitted through the digestive tract.CVB infections can cause a variety of diseases, such as hand foot and mouth disease, diarrhea, acute myocarditis and pericarditis, aseptic meningitis, osteomyelitis and rash and fever illness. In addition,CVB is the most incriminated environmental factor associated with the development of chronic diseases like type Ⅰ diabetes(TID).It is a serious threat to people's health. At present, more and more types of compounds including natural and synthetic compounds, monoclonal antibodies, etc.,have been used in the treatment of CVB,but the lack of effective anti-CVB drugs is still a problem to be solved. Therefore, this article reviewed the etiology and epidemiology of CVB virus and current related drugs, providing potential ideas and basis for the prevention, treatment and drug research and development of CVB.
