Hovenia dulcis is a traditional chinese medicinal material with the same origin of medicine and food,which has the functions of clearing heat and diuretic,eliminating thirst and irritation,and detoxification.Multiple chemical components have been isolated from hovenia dulcis,including alkaloids,flavonoids,glucose,saponins,organic acids,and other components.flavonoids are the main active components of Citrus aurantium,and there is a huge space for development in the extraction of total flavonoids from Citrus aurantium in the future.Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Citrus aurantium aurantium has a variety of activities such as liver protection,anti-mutage,anti-tumor,anti-alcoholism,anti-fatigue,enhancement of comprehensive performance,nerve protection,diuretic,sweetness inhibition,health care and so on.In this paper,the chemical composition,flavonoid extraction process and pharmacological effects of Citrus aurantium aurantium are reviewed,so as to provide a reference for the rational use of Citrus aurantium aurantium in clinical practice and product development and utilization in the future.
