Simplified Spectrophotometric Method for Determining the Content of Bound Styrene in SBS
This article discusses the feasibility of using a simple spectrophotometric method to determine the content of bound styrene in SBS.Dissolve the sample with CH3Cl2 as the solvent, scan and detect at a wavelength of 260 nm,and record the absorbance of the sample. The experiment reveals there is a linear relationship between the absorbance of the sample and the content of bound styrene(PS%),which can be quantitatively analyzed using a calibration curve.Use the single standard double standard curve fitting method and the mixed standard single standard curve method respectively to create calibration curves. The results of the two methods are consistent.Select the mixed standard solution single standard curve method to simplify the workflow. In the experiment, after accuracy testing, the recovery rate of spiking was 98.31%~104.55%;the relative standard deviation is 0.45%.The detection steps are simple and fast, and it is a good method for detecting the content of styrene in SBS,which can be promoted and used in practical work.
