Advances in Blood Adsorbent Materials for Cytokines
Sepsis is a condition that can cause life-threatening organ dysfunction.It is caused by the body's immune system responding abnormally to severe infections.It is now considered one of the leading causes of death in acutely ill patients.This abnormal response leads to the overproduction and release of cytokines,which can result in multi-organ dysfunction.Clinical studies have shown that hemoperfusion adsorbent materials can adsorb and remove cytokines.Therefore,the research and development of new high-performance adsorbent materials can help promote the application and development of blood adsorbent technology in the field of sepsis treatment.This paper reviews recent research progress on cytokine adsorbent materials and global marketed commercialised products.It also discusses the future development direction of cytokine adsorbent materials.
