Evaluation of the Antibacterial Activity of Different Solvent Extracts of Cortex Dictamni
Objective:To evaluate the antibacterial activity of different polarity solvent extracts of cortex dictamni.Method:Cortex dictamni extracts were prepared with three solvents:ethanol, ethyl acetate, and petroleum ether. The antibacterial effects of the three extracts on Staphylococcus aureus were observed, and the extract with the best antibacterial effect was selected. The minimum inhibitory concentration was measured by the double dilution method, and the possible chemical components in the extract were identified with identification reagents. Results:Among the three extracts, the order of antibacterial rate is petroleum ether extract, ethyl acetate, ethanol extract, with the ethanol extract having almost no antibacterial effect. The minimum inhibitory concentration of the petroleum ether extract is 0.125 g/mL.It is preliminarily determined that the petroleum ether extract may contain alkaloids, flavonoids, fats, sterols,or triterpenes. Conclusion:The petroleum ether extract of cortex dictamni has a good antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus, providing a theoretical reference for further extraction and separation of antibacterial effective components from liposoluble components.
