Research Progress on the Application of Resveratrol in the Treatment of Digestive Tract Tumors
Digestive tract tumors are one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide.Environmental,dietary and lifestyle factors,as well as family history,are the most important risk factors for GI tumors.Despite improvements in current oncological treatments(including surgery,chemotherapy and radiotherapy),the quality of life of patients with advanced GI tumors remains poor due to delayed diagnosis,recurrence and drug side effects.Therefore,there is an urgent need to find new therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes and survival.Resveratrol(Res)has a variety of valuable pharmacological effects including antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,anticancer,antimicrobial,and cardiovascular protective effects,and to date,multiple anticancer molecular mechanisms of Res in the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal tumors involve a variety of pathways of its action,including oxidative stress,cell proliferation,and apoptosis.
