Design Case of Groundwater Pollution Remediation Project in a Rare Earth Mining Area in Guangdong Province
In response to the current situation of groundwater pollution caused by illegal mining activities in a rare-earth mining area in Guangdong Province,a groundwater pollution remediation project was carried out based on the surface ecological restoration project. The integrated remediation technology scheme of"in-situ barrier+in-situ chemical coupling microbial remediation+improved permeable reaction barrier+ecological ditch"was adopted, and the engineering measures were designed in detail. The implementation period of the restoration project is about 10 months and it has successfully passed the project acceptance.Compared to the highest concentration in the remediation area, the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen in the groundwater downstream of the permeable reaction barrier is 99.7%.The concentration of nitrate nitrogen is lower than Class Ⅲ in the Groundwater Quality Standard(GB/T14848-2017),which meets the established restoration objectives and improves the environmental quality of the mining area. The environmental and social benefits are significant. The implementation of the project can provide technical support and engineering reference for similar projects in the future.
