The Restoration of Black and Odorous Water by Three Kinds of Submerged Plant-Sedimentary Microbial Fuel Cells
Submerged plant sediment microbial fuel cell(SP-SMFC)is one of the most promising technologies to solve the problem of restoring black odor water.Taking the black and odorous water sediment as the substrate, three different coupling systems of submerged plants and SMFC were constructed. They were divided into three types:SMFC plant stuckenia pectinata(labeled SP-SMFC1),SMFC plant dwarf bitter grass(labeled SP-SMFC2)and SMFC plant hornwort(labeled SP-SMFC3).A plant-free control group(labeled SMFC)was constructed as the control group. The results show that the constructed experimental system can run stably after domestication. The introduction of submerged plants can increase the output voltage of the system. And the maximum average output voltage of SP-SMFC2 system was 0.659 V.The removal of organic matter and nitrogen and phosphorus from sediment and overlying water was effective in all experimental groups. The system can effectively prevent the occurrence of black odor in water.
