The Effect of Carbon Black on the Storage Life of Thermosetting SMC Materials
One of the main characteristics of unsaturated thermosetting SMC materials is that their curing process is irreversible.Unlike thermoplastic plastics,SMC materials cannot be restored to their pre curing state through physical or chemical methods after curing. Therefore,if unsaturated thermosetting SMC materials undergo pre curing during their storage period,it will affect their normal use, leading to the risk of forming defects or material scrap. Therefore, extending the shelf life of SMC materials is an important factor for stable production. This article mainly uses a rotor less vulcanization instrument to measure the vulcanization time curves of SMC materials with different types of carbon black added,as well as to test the mechanical properties of materials with different pre curing degrees. It is concluded that within a certain range, the larger the BET specific surface area of carbon black types, the shorter the shelf life, and the higher the pre curing degree, the lower their mechanical properties.
