The Instrumental Analysis course is crucial for students in pharmacy, chemistry, and related disciplines. Its primary objective is to develop practical skills in using instruments and equipment to determine the properties, content, and chemical structure of substances. However, traditional laboratory courses often lack variability, becoming monotonous and detached from the latest scientific research progress.Consequently, students'interest and enthusiasm for learning may suffer. To address these issues, this paper proposes a course reform approach that focuses on application-oriented open experimental design.By using high-performance liquid chromatography as an example for analyzing and detecting actual samples, the aim is to design experimental content that is easy to understand, operate, and engaging. This approach allows students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the open experiment design process and enhances their independent initiative. As a result, students'divergent thinking is cultivated, contributing to the development of professionals who can adapt to the evolving demands of society and the times.
